The Lido Civic Club is an organization which has been in existence since 1929, bound together by Italian-American heritage and culture. The club's first formal meeting at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC featured Fiorello LaGuardia, the "Little Flower," as guest speaker.

The Lido Civic Club membership has been and continues to be socially and economically diverse. It spans multiple generations.

The Lido Civic Club is an organization keenly aware of its civic and social responsibilities to the community. Over the years the club has helped many students achieve a good education and sound careers through the award of scholarship funds. The club has helped the homeless, elderly, orphans, and disaster victims.

Over the years "Friends of Lido" has emerged and has been supportive of the club's efforts and organization.

Friends of Lido participants have been: the Ambassador of Italy, Supreme Court Justice of the United States, Heavy Weight Champion of the World, President of the Motion Picture Industry, Mayor of New York, former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Members of Congress, the scientist who first identified the virus which causes AIDS, former attorney general for the State of Virginia, and some of the largest Real Estate Developers in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Through the active participation of the Lido Club Membership, the club continues to make civic and social contributions to the underprivileged in the community, provide scholarships, and provide financial aid for people in need.
